Off Site Back up.

Posted by David G.  Published in hardware, internet marketing, software

I am constantly searching the Internet for anything that has to do with Internet marketing, computer tools, computer software, widgets, gadgets and pretty much anything that has to do with computers.

Often the tools I find our valuable to others so I’ve decided to start sharing them. Today while looking for backup software I was looking for something off site. I have local backups both internal and external hard drives and have files backed up to my own web server. However my off site web server backup must always be done manually.

Today however I found a cool tool that offers free backup on a secure server with data encryption and it’s totally free, that is up to 2GB. www.mozy.com does automatic backups so I can set what files I want backed up and how often I want them backed up. Now one neat little trick I learned is that www.mozy.com uses nothing more than your e-mail address and a small program installed on your computer. So if you have more than one computer and more the one e-mail address you could set up as many backup systems as you’d like.

Now while I certainly wouldn’t put financial data on someone else’s server I am now backing up all non vital information such as pictures, videos, word documents and excel documents, which are valuable to me but would not have a massive impact on me if they were stolen.

So you can check out www.mozy.com for free right here.
